New online shop for European John Deere fans

Friday, May 31st, 2013

A new online merchandise shop has been launched on the John Deere website for customers and fans of the brand in Europe. Featuring an updated design and improved user interface, it replaces the previous version introduced in 2007.

The popularity of the John Deere brand is such that John Deere merchandise reaches many fans that are not linked to the land or agricultural and turf machinery. The collection now features more than 1000 items including office accessories, watches and radios; practical workwear and stylish clothing; ride-on pedal tractors, Gator utility vehicles and go-karts; beautifully crafted scale models, and numerous other gifts and practical items for the home and garden.

John Deere licensed products are created with the same attention to detail and high quality finish traditionally found in John Deere equipment. Highlights of the 2013 collection include new detailed collectible models, toys and ride-ons for kids, as well as new designs for John Deere clothing lines.

Over the years, shoppers have shared many of their wishes and new ideas for additional John Deere merchandise; many items, such as John Deere branded bed linen, have been developed as a result and are now available for online ordering, based on this customer feedback.

The new online shop, which features prices in both pounds sterling and euros, complements the merchandise offered by local John Deere dealerships in the UK and Ireland; to find your nearest dealer, visit the website at and look for the dealer

JCB’s fuel saving Ecomax engine – the company’s answer to EU Stage IIIB/US Tier 4 Interim compliance – will be the focus on the JCB stand at Plantworx. It brings enhanced efficiency and reduced emissions to new excavator, telescopic handler and backhoe loader models.
The Ecomax engine – which meets the latest emissions standards without resorting to external exhaust after treatment or a diesel particulate filter (DPF) – is introduced across JCB’s world leading 3CX and 4CX backhoe range along with variable flow hydraulic pumps. The machines benefit from fuel savings of up to 11% along with uprated backhoe slide performance, reduced daily checks, LiveLink connectivity for engine ECU data analysis, optional front shovel street pads and removable rear light guards.
The JS130 is one of three new mid-range tracked excavators equipped with the new Ecomax engine. In addition to fuel savings of up to 10% due to an advanced combustion system, it features: high efficiency hydraulic pumps and circuits , reduced noise levels and a customisable 10cm LCD monitor (18cm screen with rearview camera is available as an option). The JCB Tool Select system allows the operator to pre-set attachment flow through the monitor. LiveLink connectivity shows fuel consumption, enhances security and enables remote fleet management.
Already the world’s number one telescopic handler manufacturer, JCB has used the introduction of its high torque, low emission Ecomax diesel engines to look at every aspect of its range. Improvements include: 15% more torque and reduced fuel consumption of up to 10%, high back-off brakes on the 531-70, 541-70, 535-95 and 533-105 models, reduced transmission oil levels and a variable speed cooling fan on its most powerful models. Further additions to the JCB Loadall range shown at Plantworx include the new JCB 540-200 – JCB’s first ever machine capable of lifting loads to 20 metres – and the introduction of new aerial work platforms for the JCB HiViz Loadall models.
JCB will also showcase its latest compact models on the stand including the 8018 and 8026CT mini excavators. The new 8018 CTS is a conventional tailswing model giving customers greater choice in the 1.5 tonne sector. It features more than 30 improvements for reduced cost of ownership and greater productivity, safety and comfort. These include a 52% increase in load holding capacity and an 11% increase in dig depth. The 2.7 tonne JCB 8026 CTS joins the range alongside the zero tailswing 8025 ZTS, offering customers a choice of compact design and increased digging capacity. The machine uses a dedicated boom and dipper arm, offering greater digging and lifting performance but with a14% efficiency gain.

Gator features new power steering

Wednesday, May 29th, 2013

Providing even greater performance in a range of environments, John Deere’s popular XUV 855D Gator 4×4 utility vehicle is now available with power steering. This is designed to reduce steering effort considerably, compared to models without this feature.

John Deere’s full Gator range, with the exception of the smallest CX model, is also available for the first time with PowerGard Protection. John Deere PowerGard is a straightforward solution to equipment servicing and repair work, designed to help Gator customers budget for the total cost of ownership. Thanks to the standard two year warranty and PowerGard Protection, it is possible to have up to four years of cover for the vehicle.

The new factory installed, electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) system will be standard on models with olive & black livery, and optional on green & yellow models. The system has an anti-kickback feature and speed sensing – the faster you travel, the more responsive the steering becomes, controlled by a torque sensor and an on-board computer. The steering design also reduces tyre wear on hard surfaces, and is more turf friendly.

The 25hp XUV 855D Gator is the fastest and most powerful diesel utility vehicle in the John Deere line-up, with a top speed of 32mph (52kph). It features a true on-demand four-wheel drive traction system, activated by a dash-mounted electronic switch, and double A-arm front and rear suspension, which is adjustable at the rear. Ground clearance is 267mm (11in), total payload is 635kg and towing capacity is 680kg.

The Gator’s standard four post ROPS frame can be optionally upgraded to a deluxe full glass cab if required, and further options include tool carriers and cargo box dividers, a front mounted load rack, a bull bar and side extensions.

Price of the 2013 model John Deere XUV 855D 4×4 Gator utility vehicle with olive & black livery and power steering as standard starts at £12,288 (€14,805 in Ireland) for the base machine with Terrahawk tyres (excluding VAT), while the green & yellow livery model with optional power steering is £100 (€120) less.

Award success for Massey Ferguson MF 5600

Best New Product or Innovation at the LAMMA show 2013. The tractors, which made their UK debut at the event, attracted many positive comments from throngs of visitors to the busy stand.

“The MF 5600 Series brings together straight-forward operation with some sophisticated features that provide great comfort and control,” says Andy Prosser, Manager Sales Support, who accepted the Award at the event. “We are proud to win this award because it supports our conviction that these tractors, which introduce a unique brake-pedal activated neutral, not only set the benchmark for loader operations but also in terms of engine power, torque and manoeuvrability.”

All models are powered by a ground-breaking three cylinder AGCO POWER engine, which is a compact design that uses just diesel, while still meeting the stringent emissions regulations with a maintenance-free DOC. The Dyna-4 ECO 16/16 transmission offers superb control, effortless clutchless shifting between speeds and direction and now the option of AutoDrive automatic changing.
Operators will also appreciate the new, spacious cab that is the based on that used on the larger MF 7600 range. This boasts a new right-hand console and controls that provide simple operation and can be specified with a Slimline, Visio or Standard roof as well as being fitted in two positions to exactly suit all customers’ requirements.

The MF 5600 Series sets the new standard for loader operations. The three cylinder engine’s compact dimension ensures excellent manoeuvrability and combines with the transmission’s ease of operation, with a new joystick not only operating the loader, but also changes direction with the same lever. A new automatic high-flow 100 litre/min hydraulic option also speeds up cycle times

New cab for John Deere 5E Series tractors

Thursday, May 23rd, 2013

Designed to provide more comfort, performance and versatility, John Deere’s 5E Series three-cylinder utility tractors will be available from this spring with a new John Deere designed cab. A 5055E model was shown for the first time in the UK at LAMMA 2013.

The 5055E, 5065E and 5075E models from 55 to 75hp (97/68 EC rating) can be ordered with two new cab options, equipped with either basic roof-mounted heater/ventilation outlets and controls or a higher specification air conditioning and heating system. The cabs also feature opening front, rear and side windows for extra visibility when required. An additional new feature is a digital instrument panel, as featured on the bigger 5M Series tractors from 70 to 100hp.

All three models feature a John Deere PowerTech M Tier III engine, providing good fuel economy and low emission levels, and an open centre hydraulic system with independent pumps. A single rear SCV is operated by a dedicated lever as standard. Additional options include a second rear or mid-mounted SCV, operated by a joystick control.

The synchronised nine forward/three reverse inline transmission follows an H pattern and can be shifted on the move via side-shift levers within the range. A standard 540rpm pto operates at a rated engine speed of 2400rpm, while the 540E economy version runs at 1700 engine rpm.

The tractors can be fitted with a choice of two mechanical self-levelling or non self-levelling loaders, with lift capacities of either 873 or 989kg to a maximum lift height of 3.38m. Rear lift capacity is 1.8 tonnes at the hitch balls.

John Deere 5E Series tractors are suitable for a range of customers including smaller livestock or mixed farms, speciality growers and part-time farmers or private landowners, as well as the commercial groundscare market. Prices of the new models and cab option are still to be confirmed.
