John Deere brand leaps ahead

Monday, October 21st, 2013

John Deere has made a further leap ahead in the Interbrand ranking of the ‘100 best global brands’* for 2013.

According to the latest report, John Deere’s assessed brand value stands at US$4.865 billion, a further 15 per cent increase compared to the previous year. The company is now ranked in 80th place, having moved up from 85 in 2012 and 97 on its first appearance in the top 100 in 2011. This continues to place John Deere ahead of other well-known worldwide brands including Jack Daniels, Ralph Lauren and Pizza Hut.

“John Deere continues to demonstrate its commitment to building leading products for those ‘linked to the land’,” comments Interbrand on its website

“The brand’s commitment to environmental sustainability initiatives, strategic focus and organisational realignment and the strengthening of its forestry and construction business exemplifies how a Moline, Illinois-based company, most commonly associated with tractors and farm equipment, can continue to deliver on growth targets while broadening public perception of what it means to ‘Run Like a Deere.’”

“The ranking improvement not only recognizes John Deere’s growth outside North America, it also reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to helping our customers meet the world’s increasing need for food, fuel, fibre and infrastructure,” says Deere & Company agriculture & turf division president Mark von Pentz.

Even more performance for the New Holland CR combine harvester

Friday, October 18th, 2013

At the Agritechnica 2013 trade fair, New Holland will unveil the Dynamic Feed Roll™ technology as an option for the powerful twin-rotor combine harvesters, the CR 8000 and CR 9000.

The feed roll with its new dynamic stone protection system is installed tangentially across the two longitudinal rotors in the combine harvester.

The Dynamic Feed Roll delivers the harvested grain uniformly to the twin rotors as well as providing an effective method for stone protection on the move, by way of a stone catcher trough beneath the feed rotor.

Many years of trials at the R&D Centre in Zedelgem have demonstrated that this feed roll delivers tangible benefits in terms of grain quality. Furthermore, the tests have shown that the Dynamic Feed Roll requires no additional power requirement because the improved crop delivery to the rotor area actually reduces the need for power.

The advantages for the user are very evident indeed:

• continuous ‘non-stop’ stone protection
• excellent grain quality
• improved crop flow through continuous supply to the rotor
• less strain on the rotor drives

New snow blowers for John Deere lawn tractors

Monday, October 14th, 2013

John Deere has introduced two new snow blower attachments for its X300 and X500 Select Series lawn tractors, in time for this year’s winter season.

Durable and easy to install, these 112 and 119cm (44 and 47in) snow blowers increase the versatility of Select Series lawn tractors for year-round use. Both domestic and professional users will find them simple to use and highly efficient at clearing snow from pathways, building frontages and yards.

The two-stage design allows these snow blowers to perform consistently in various operating conditions. Protected by a heavy-duty steel housing, a low-speed 305 or 406mm (12 or 16in) diameter auger gathers the snow. A high-speed rotor then discharges it at a constant velocity, even in light snow conditions, through a rotatable chute. Constructed from high molecular weight plastic, the rotor is sturdy and resistant to rust.

Attachment to the front of the tractor and removal are made simple with a quick-hitch mounting system, with the snow blower locking onto the hitch. Designed and built by John Deere, these new snow blowers are making their European debut after many years of proven performance in the US, and are available now from the UK & Ireland John Deere dealer network.

John Deere launches new entry-level mower for professionals

Tuesday, October 1st, 2013

John Deere is expanding its range of walk-behind commercial mowers with the new PRO 47V. This robust, entry-level rotary mower is specifically designed for the needs of smaller landscaping businesses or as an additional machine for contractors, amenity managers and other turf professionals.

With a cutting width of 47cm (18½in), the PRO 47V is light and easy to operate, and highly manoeuvrable even in difficult areas or around landscape features and other obstacles. Its comparatively low weight and comfortable carry handles allow one person to transport the machine easily, which is particularly useful when frequently changing work locations. The folding handle and compact size of the mower also make it easy to transport, even in smaller vehicles.

Equipped with a powerful Subaru engine rated at a nominal 3.2kW and with variable-speed two-wheel drive, the mower is suitable for working in a range of different mowing conditions on grass areas up to 2500m². The rear collector capacity is 65 litres, and cutting height is adjustable from 25 to 80mm (1 to 3in).

In addition, the PRO 47V has a corrosion-resistant, steel-reinforced aluminium chassis including front protection. The proven TurboStar System delivers reliable mowing and collection performance, and other features include a professional standard transmission and tyres, and an optional mulching kit.
